Unit 2: Space- AJttCotE: THe Shore

Here is a thumbnail for Extract 3's the shore. I think this piece works well as it shows the scale of the dinosaur skulls comparing to the Little figure as well as the space of the shore too. I'm quite happy the way the bones have turned out especially ones from and behind the water. Any feedback or advice would be much loved!! ^_^

  1. Hey Joey, I love the atmospheric colouring, i'm not sure how to get around it, but I think the image looks a little lacking in depth, its got the hint of it but it still needs something, I'll have a think and see if I can suggest anything further :)

  2. Hey Nat,

THank yous!! :D I'm really happy with the way the sky turned out- dont know what I did to make it look that way though! By depth, do you think I should put more bones in or some greenery? :s

  3. I think Nat means depth as it distance Joey.

  4. This loks great Joey, however I can see what Nat means. It needs something else. I think its the size of your figure. Maybe try different versions of shrinking their size. At the moment it feels like the bones aren't as big as they could be because your figure is the same size as the dinosaur bones. Or maybe try and place him just under the nose of the skull. I hope this makes sense. Keep working on it though, your doing well.

  5. For me, it's the 'curse of softness', Joey - that's making everything here sit on the same layer of space - check out Ernesta's most recent post...

... and see how she's picked out more detail in the foreground elements to ping them forwards; she's tightening up detail where she wants it - to help organise the scene - your shore is very soft and blended everywhere - you need much more variance texturally to help your foreground, midground and background separate out.
