Maya Tutorials: Animation Generi to Cartoon Characters

I'm really sorry but I've just found out that I couldn't work on my maya files from home due to a graphics card problem. It will be a while for me to get it resolved but for the meantime, I'll be continuing to get this done in uni.

Sorry!! :'(

Here are all the latest Maya tutorials:

Character Design Project: Character Action Scenes

Not sure would it still count as I've decided to display it in a minimalist tapestry way, inspired by "The Living Lines Library" on "The Rise of The Guardians", still overall Im really pleased with the result it turned out. ^_^

Character Design Project: Dragon sidekick last colour test

Finally after many more experiments I have finally settled down to a colour scheme for Styrkr, the sidekick dragon. I've decided to go for a orange colour with some green viking patterns to make it distinguishable that the character doesn't appear like its nude along with a brown tummy. Originally I wanted to have the character in green but decided not too as I feel that it could fall into the generic dragon category.

Character Design Project: Prop

Here is Odin's weapon prop, I've decided to make it look as if it is suitable for a little rookie. Also included a sword sheath that would tie around Odin's belt.

Colours used for each character are displayed in the following colour palettes:

Character Design Project: Dragon Sidekick (Styrkr) Character Turnaround

Here is the dragon sidekick's turnaround, now named Styrkr which in the ancient Norse language meaning strength and assistance which to me suits the character's position. :D

Character Design Project: Odin Hero Turnaround

Here is Odin the hero's final character turnaround. I've also included the pattern design and the eye patch design as a close up detail. Rather than having Odin from the side, I thought it would be easier to see Odin from a 3/4 front view since each side of him is different and his cape would be covering most of the details.

Character Design Project: Dragon Sidekick Colour Test 7

Here are another set of colour tests for my dragon sidekick along with the rest of the characters for comparison  I'm slightly confused as to what colours to go for from Justin's feedback on "the last set" on the previous colour test. (do you mean the blue set or red? Sorry!! PLEASE HELP!!) I've set the colours this time to a saturated but darker green, a grey shade and also a different purple to see would it work but also hope that it wouldn't end up looking like spyro! :S

Character Design Project: Alien Villain (Vándr) Turnaround

Here is the alien villain's turnaround, now named Vándr which is a Norse word for bad, evil. :) I've also included a version of what his body would be like if he was upright but doing this to me feels like the character lost its personality and would make things more confusing.

Character Design Project: Concept Art 1

A little concept art I made of the Alien Villain and Odin. I played around further with the lighting for something more dramatic- like which I think works well. :D

Character Design Project: Dragon Sidekick Colour Tests 6

Just another few colour tests that I've gathered from playing around with the hues and saturations using the last post's colour scheme. I've also added these along with the whole characters for comparison and what works well and what doesn't. :D

Character Design Project: Dragon Sidekick colour tests 5

Another colour change, as the previous colour along with the character line- up seemed too much red as well  as making the dragon sidekick's personality a bit devil-like. So taking on the colour scheme similar to Uni from Dungeons and Dragons, here's another colour test along with the rest of the characters excluding numbers 3,6,10 and 13 as they're a bit bland. :)

Character Design Project: Dragon Sidekick colour tests 4

After comparing the colours with the hero and villain, it was decided that the dragon should have a different colour as it seemed too similar to the alien villain. So from TutorPhil's feedback on changing the colour to a bright red, here I have made the changes also changing slightly the hues and stripes as well as including them with the hero and villain for comparison minus thumbnails 6,7,12 and 13 as they seemed "not fit".

Character Design Project: Dragon Sidekick colour tests 3

After looking at the previous colour tests along with the rest of the characters, I felt that the sidekick seemed too much like the alien villain, confusing its poistion. So I've changed the saturation around using the colour thumbs I liked and placed them along with its "originals" and with the rest of the characters again once more for comparison. From this, I liked numbers  6a, 9a and 11a.
