Next, we did the same thing, only this time I got a "Killer Secret Agent", which in Justin's terms "A killer James Bond" style. It was also said that to even free ourselves more, we should draw some thing opposite, like for me from serious characters, I should focus on drawing characters that would be suitable for a kiddie audience. The first drawing I did for this was on the top left, I was advised that with kids audience, the characters should be more simplistic and basic. As a result, I've drawn the remaining three characters (personally I like the little guy with the knife!). I'm really happy with today's lesson and can't wait for next week!! ^_^

Character Design Project: Class Week 1
To start things off, we've to "free" ourselves and go with our own style to do some character drawing practice. From random I was given a "mutant surfer" to draw, at first this reminded me of my first project last year involving hybrids and adaptations. So for this, I thought of an amphibious humanoid- surfing. (first image left). Based on Justin's feedback, the mutant should have something that would make it noticeable that it is a mutant surfing, so I ended coming up with a female surfer mutant (right). I also thought of ways of how the face should look to suit a watery environment.

Character Design Project: New stuff!
After briefing on our next project, Character Design, we've set to work on creating our own characters in our style with Justin. We've picked two cards from a deck, from these they'll tell us what are characters will be. For me, I have:
This is quite an interesting topic for me because its like fantasy meets history idea. So with this we've to come up with a synopsis, the full story and our characters which has to include: a hero, sidekick and a villain. :D

Narrative and Character: Anecdote Studios: More Character Designs
After taking the feedback from the team and Tom, I've tried out the lines of action to see would this help out with my character. So far I am liking the posture of number 6 and the faces of numbers 9 and 6.

Mudbox Week 3: Painting on models
Today we've looked a bit more in depth in using the paint tools in painting our models. We've also learnt how to edit or look at UV layouts and the use of different paint layers. Here's mine which I had fun with using the stamps and stencils and also I've played around painting the eyes.

Narrative and Character: Anecdote Studios: First character designs 2
Exploring different styles to suit the "American Dad" style who would fail on TV. I've mostly try to focus on the facial expressions and tried out some body shapes.
Narrative and Character: Anecdote Studios: First character silhouette designs
Based on the previous influence maps, I have started making some silhouettes for our silly-serious character. I thought it would be best to give him a weird shape like a stretched out potato, or a trapezium shaped head to suit his personality as a silly character demonstrating a serious announcement on tv but fails.

Narrative and Character: Anecdote Studios: More art styles influences
Here are more art styles that we could use in our animations. Instead of looking at 50's I've looked at styles before and after the time era. Also the idea of a serious-silly American Dad character reminded me of the silly-but-serious-in-his-policemen-job character based on the Phoenix Wright video games.
